一般にAB BOXはAまたはB、またはAB両アウトプットに信号を送ることが出来るようになっていますが、CoolSWITCHではさらにもう一つの機能として、1つのアンプで異なる2本のギター（ベース等）を接続し、それら2つの楽器を切換えて使用することができ、ライブ等での楽器の持ち替えに大変便利です。加えて、フロント・パネルにLEDがついているため信号の経路（AまたはBまたはAB両方）を視覚的にも確認できるようになっています。
